Seaweed, beach herbs, crabs, and more: Join us on a sensory, unique, and taste-opening tour along Kerteminde Fjord, where you will learn to find and taste nature's own ingredients—straight from the fjord to the table.
On this guided foraging trip with Fjord&Bælt, you will get an introduction to nature's pantry—from the edge of the fjord to your own taste buds. Our nature guide will show you how to forage for edible ingredients by the coast: seaweed, beach herbs, and small creatures that we collect together. It's an experience where you'll get sand under your nails, fresh air in your lungs, and the taste of the coastal nature right on your tongue.
We will teach you how to recognize some of the edible treasures from nature's own hand, and we will try to forage them together. You will learn about what can be found, what is safe to eat, and the quantities that are permitted to be foraged in nature.
The tour starts and ends at Fjord&Bælt and lasts approximately 3 hours.
Along the way, we walk along the fjord to a special foraging spot where we have gear for you to try your hand at collecting edible ingredients from the water and the water's edge. Back at Fjord&Bælt, we prepare taste samples over a Trangia stove and enjoy the results together. It's not a full meal—but it is a great experience.
Practical information
- The tour takes place outdoors.
- Remember to wear weather-appropriate clothing, bring your own drinks, and possibly snacks (the food we prepare together is not a full meal).
- We provide all other necessary gear.
- The tour may be canceled if there are not enough participants.
- The tour will be conducted in Danish and/or English.
- The tour is accessible for wheelchair users, but there is no possibility to go into the water. However, there are foraging opportunities by the fjord edge, which is up to a grassy area accessible by wheelchair. There is also the possibility to park your car close to the foraging spot.
- Included in the price: Admission to Fjord&Bælt – so you can explore our experience and research center before the tour.

Coastal Detectives – Nature Nerds by the Fjord
Guided discovery tour for curious children and adults.
The Danish coast harbors far more life than you might think. It is a living landscape filled with stories, animals, and plants—and on this guided discovery tour, you'll learn more about it all together with our nature interpreter.
We start at Fjord&Bælt and move as a group along the coast and through Kerteminde's unique coastal nature, while we tell stories about the distinctive nature right here: the fjord and the strait to the bustling Belt Sea. Along the way, you'll also hear cultural and historical tales from Kerteminde's coastal life, including the story of the statue "The Fishwife" and the development of the harbor.
By the fjord, we go exploring with nets, buckets, and magnifying glasses, examining what we can find in the water and on the beach: seaweed, crabs, small fish, and intricate shells. What is it? Where does it live? And why does it look like that? We catch, collect, and nerd out together.
Finally, we return to Fjord&Bælt, where we create our own little aquarium together and examine our findings more closely. It's a perfect family activity for holiday guests with curious children—and an opportunity to become really knowledgeable about the coast.

- Remember to bring any food and your own drinks.
- The tour requires general mobility and a desire to walk in nature. We will be walking in the water with bare toes, so consider bringing water shoes if you prefer.
- There will be a guide with you throughout the tour to lead, tell stories, and answer questions.
- Included in the price is also admission to Fjord&Bælt, so you can explore the rest of the center before and/or after the tour.
